Police were called at 11:57pm yesterday (March 2) to the report of concerns for woman on A689.
The woman was taken to Cumberland Infirmary with serious injuries.
The road was closed whist officer conducted their enquiries and reopened at 7:33am today (March 3)
Officers are appealing to anyone in the area between 11pm and midnight on 2 March who may have seen a woman and a white Audi 3 to contact police.
