The family of a woman who died at a property on Whinlatter Way, Carlisle have paid tribute to her life.
The family of Susan Watson, age 61 said:
"Susan Watson was a much-loved sister, Mam, Grandma and friend. Family meant everything to her, and she was never happier than when she had the people she loved around her. She absolutely adored being a Grandma and treasured every moment she spent with her grandchildren.
"Helping people was simply who Susan was. She always put other people before herself and was the first to offer a helping hand, whether it was family, friends, neighbours or complete strangers. She never expected anything in return and never wanted recognition. She just believed that if someone needed help, you helped them.
"Susan gave many years of her time to volunteering with the Samaritans. She spent countless evenings at Carlisle railway station, whatever the weather, offering a listening ear to anyone who needed someone to talk to. She also volunteered in the Samaritans charity shop, supporting people in any way she could.
"As a foot practitioner in Carlisle, Susan built lasting friendships with so many of her patients. She often went far beyond what anyone would expect, picking up shopping for people who couldn't get out, checking in on those who were struggling, and making sure nobody felt alone or forgotten. To many people, she became much more than their foot practitioner.
"Her kindness didn't stop there. Susan had a way of making everyone feel welcome. If someone had nowhere to go at Christmas, there was always a place at her table. If someone was going through a difficult time, she would open her home and do whatever she could to help. Looking after other people came naturally to her.
"Susan leaves behind a family who loved her beyond words, along with so many friends, neighbours, patients and colleagues whose lives are better for having known her.
"We will remember Susan for her kindness, her generosity and the difference she made to so many people's lives.
"We are heartbroken by her loss and kindly ask that our family's privacy is respected as we come to terms with what has happened. We would also like to thank everyone for the kindness, support and compassion that has been shown to us during this incredibly difficult time."
