A man from Scotland has been charged by detectives from Cumberlands Community and Serious Organised Crime (CSOC) team after a vehicle he was travelling in was stopped with over 2kg of cocaine inside.

Officers stopped the vehicle near Carlisle on 8 July and upon a search of his vehicle, police located 2kg of cocaine with a street value of around £160,000. Over £2000 in cash was also recovered.

Grant Robertson, aged 49 of Hillcrest, Fife was charged last week with:

  • possession with intent to supply cocaine
  • possession of criminal property
  • driving whilst disqualified and with no insurance

He appeared before Carlisle Magistrates Court on 9 July and has been remanded into custody.

The seizure forms part of an investigation by Cumberland’s CSOC team to target the transportation of class A drugs across the UK.
