A man from Barrow has been sentenced to two years and two months in prison following a violent assault at a petrol garage in Barrow last year.

Brandon Stone, aged 28, of Barrow, was sentenced at Preston Crown Court yesterday (26 May) after pleading guilty at an earlier hearing to GBH.

The court heard how on 10 August 2025 at around 3:35am, police became aware of an incident on the forecourt at Shell Garage on Abbey Road, Barrow where a man had been assaulted.

Through CCTV enquiries, officers were able to establish that following a verbal altercation, Stone had punched the victim in the head, knocking him to the floor, before punching him a further 19 times and kicking him 8 times to the head and face.

Following the assault the victim was treated in hospital where he was confirmed to have sustained  facial injuries including a broken jaw which required surgery to insert metal plates as a result of the attack.

Upon his arrest, Stone gave no comment responses in interview, however later admitted the offence in court.

“We take violent crime extremely seriously, and those responsible can expect to face the courts.

“This conviction shows Cumbria Police’s commitment to ensuring offenders are held accountable and brought to justice.”
