Police were called at 11:23pm on Sunday the 2 August 2026 to reports of a sudden death of a woman at a property in the Caldewgate area of Carlisle.
Emergency services attended, but the woman – in her 60s – was declared deceased at the scene.
A man in his 60s has been arrested on suspicion of murder.
Investigations are currently ongoing.
Members of the public may notice an increased police presence in the area whilst officers carry out enquiries.
