Police were called to Hindpool Road, Barrow – near to DW Fitness – following a report of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian.
It happened yesterday ( December 10 ) at 4.16pm.
The pedestrian – a woman, in her eighties, from the Barrow area – sustained serious injuries.
She was taken to Royal Preston Hospital, where her condition was described as serious.
The road was closed for a number of hours while a forensic collision investigation was carried out.
The driver of the car – a man, in his forties - was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. They were bailed pending further enquiries.
