Police are investigating the death of a man following an incident at 39 Whinsmoor Drive, Carlisle on the 30 May 2026.

Police were contacted at around 11:14am on the 30 May 2026, to reports that a man had suffered a serious head injury.

Emergency services attended and a man in his 40s was taken by air ambulance to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle. The man was pronounced deceased yesterday (2 June 2026).

Six people have been arrested in connection with this incident on suspicion of a number of offences, including grievous bodily harm and murder.

Two individuals were arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and have since been bailed.

A further four individuals have been arrested on suspicion of murder and remain in police custody.

Police enquiries are still ongoing.

Anyone who witnessed this incident, or who has any information relating to it in the hours and days leading up to it between the evening of 28 May 2026 and the morning of 30 May 2026, is urged to come forward.

Police would particularly like to hear from anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage in the areas of Whinsmoor Drive and Central Avenue, Carlisle.
