Cumbria Police would like to thank people in the local community who responded positively to an appeal for CCTV footage to assist in an investigation following an incident in Anson Street in Barrow. The footage submitted assisted greatly with the investigation, resulting in charges being brought.

Thomas Dempsey, 36, of Lord Street, Barrow, has been charged with wounding with intent, robbery, three counts of possession of a bladed article, assault by beating and theft from a shop.


It is alleged that Dempsey carried out a robbery at the home address of a man in Anson Street in Barrow on 23 September 2025, during which the victim sustained injuries including a wound to his thigh.


Dempsey was due to appear at Barrow Magistrates’ Court today.
