A series of recruitment open evenings are set to take place across the county to advise people about career opportunities at Cumbria Police.

Both in-person events and an online meeting will be held so people can find out more about the policing roles currently available.

At these events, you will hear from serving police officers and staff who will share their experiences with you and can answer any questions you may have.

These events are for those considering joining as a police officer, PCSO, police staff member or in a voluntary role.

On Wednesday 2nd April, in-person events will be held over two sessions at the following locations:

Chief Superintendent Matt Kennerley said: “These recruitment events provide an excellent opportunity for people to gain a deeper understanding of the vast opportunities that a career at our police force can offer.

“A career in policing provides a chance to learn and develop new skills as you progress through your career with access to a wide range of training opportunities you may never have thought possible. You will have the opportunity to attain and access qualifications, and you will be supported every step of the way.

“Policing is a tough job, but one which is incredibly rewarding and enables you to make a real positive difference to the lives of so many people.

“We are proud to be one of the highest performing police forces in the country. This strong performance is underpinned by our skilled and dedicated officers and staff who work tirelessly to keep people safe.

“We want the best candidates to join our ranks and enhance the policing service we provide to our communities. If this appeals to you, please take advantage of these events to find out more about a career at Cumbria Police.”

Cumbria’s Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner, David Allen, said: “I started as a Police Officer in 1986 in Carlisle – my work took me all over the county, the country and eventually all over the world, so I most definitely know just how varied and rewarding a career in policing can be.

“Police officers experience aspects of life that most people never will -from people at their lowest ebb, to shining examples of people at their very best. It is a fantastic job for anyone that wants to make a real difference and who wants to make their community a safer and better place to live, grow and thrive. There are so many different career paths to choose from within policing; this makes it an incredibly exciting role. The fact that these career paths are set in a backdrop of jaw dropping natural beauty and some great places to live and, if you have one, bring your family up, just adds to its appeal.

“These recruitment sessions are a fantastic opportunity for anyone considering a career in policing in our fantastic county of Cumbria to come along and hear more about the different roles within the organisation.

“I would encourage anyone that is interested to come along to one of the sessions and hear more about how we police Cumbria.

“Cumbria is special, both in its natural beauty, but also in how it provides policing services. Come and see for yourself. Come and join us!”
